Our Environmental Sustainability Efforts
Environmental stewardship is integral to Microsoft’s business and we are committed to helping make our events more environmentally friendly. The following are efforts that Microsoft is undertaking for Tech·Ed Europe 2009 in an effort to reduce waste and save our natural resources. We need your help to make these efforts successful.

No more disposable water bottles
Attendees will receive reusable water bottles to fill at water cooler stations throughout the conference area.

Waste Diversion Stations throughout the Venue
Think twice when throwing out your trash. Recycling bins are available throughout the venue in an effort to divert waste from landfills.

Promoting environmental responsibility to sponsors and exhibitors
Tech·Ed Europe 2009 sponsors and exhibitors are encouraged to minimise disposable materials they bring to the event and to use recycled and recyclable materials where possible.

Plasma screens for session signage
To help reduce waste created by disposable signs, Tech·Ed Europe 2009 will use plasma screens. Other signs will be comprised of recycled and reusable materials.

Transport passes for all people using hotel service for travel between the airport, hotel and the Messe
By using our transport passes you will help to lower our carbon footprint

Post-consumer recycled paper
The majority of materials created for the conference will be printed on recycled paper
Tech·Ed Europe 2009 in partnership with the Messe Berlin GmbH/ICC Berlin
Germany is a world leader with regard to environmental legislation, environmental awareness and recycling systems. The Messe Berlin GmbH/ICC Berlin have had guidelines regarding protection of the environment, saving environmental resources and recycling material in place for many years.
What the Messe Berlin GmbH/ICC Berlin are doing in terms of Sustainability, Corporate Social Responsibility and Green Measurements.
The following are in place to ensure the Messe Berlin GmbH/ICC Berlin works on an environmentally-conscious basis:

An environmental management system

A written environmental policy for many years, which is reviewed on a regular basis

Environmental officers and managers

The conference centre can demonstrate appropriate environmental training for those responsible for such issues

The conference centre acts in compliance with environmental legislation

Uses energy-saving, recycled or recyclable material where appropriate (e.g. energy-saving light-bulbs, refillable markers, toners, printing cartridges, environmentally-friendly paper etc...)
