Common questions about the Windows 7 experience and HP Mini Notebook at Tech•Ed 09

Q: Who is eligible to receive the HP Mini Notebook?
A: This offer is for paid ticket delegates only and is not available to sponsors, sponsor free tickets, exhibitors, volunteers, Microsoft staff (full-time and contingent), nor any delegate who has received a complimentary ticket (excluding non-Microsoft speakers). Premier customers who pay for their Tech Ed tickets through Microsoft Premier Contract support assistance hours are eligible to receive the Notebook.

Q: When will eligible delegates receive the HP Mini Notebook?
A: Delegates must sign a waiver to receive the HP Mini Notebook. The waiver can be downloaded here - (PDF 185k) or (XPS 241k). It will also be emailed to eligible delegates prior to the event. The waiver must be signed and given to Microsoft at the event.

Q: Is the HP Mini Notebook mine to keep?
Yes, for eligible delegates, the Mini Notebook loaded with Windows 7* is yours to keep. You should consider your personal circumstances, such as your employment policy, and ensure this allows you to keep this gift. This is particularly relevant if your employer paid for you to attend Tech•Ed or if your employer is the government, which prescribes strict rules regarding the circumstances in which its employees may keep gifts.

Q: What about if I’m unable to receive gifts?
Delegates have the options to accept or not to accept and there is no obligation to take the HP Mini Notebook. Each individual should consider their individual circumstances before accepting the HP Mini Notebook. Should individual circumstances not allow an attendee to accept the HP Mini Notebook (for example, in the case of a government employee or other individual whose employer’s policies would not permit acceptance of such an item), they will be able to use the HP Mini Notebook on loan so they can experience Windows 7 as other attendees and will be able to return it to Microsoft at the close of the event. Notebooks that are loaned and returned by delegates will either be given to a Microsoft Authorised Refurbisher and provided to community groups and disadvantaged individuals or utilised by Microsoft for future technology events.

Q: How much is the HP Mini Notebook costing?
The HP Mini Notebook is a complimentary offer for eligible delegates from Microsoft, with no increase in ticket price to cover this offer.
