Ha. Wish I had known about this guy back in late April, when, after a seeminly innocuous Windows Update for Vista 64, my PC would no longer recognize that it was ever running Windows. Had to purchase a new hard drive and format new. The old hard drive? Perfectly fine. ALL data intact and usable. Go figure.
Mark Russinovich is "waaaay" better than a Rock n' Roll star!!! He's one super cool techie! Awesome dude! Where can one see & hear the entire collection of Mark Russinovich's presentations?
I've used mark's tools for over 8 years now and with these tools ( and windbg) i've been able to get to the root cause of many problems on mission critical servers that i've supported. During this time i've gained considerable knowledge of how the the OS works. Well done mark and thankyou microsoft for employing him as a TF.
i tried this at home on my main computer (yeah main computer, don't worry) pretty sure its patchguard blocking the changes. Everytime i change 4 to 2, it doesnt keep it 2, just stays 4, so want to do this and for the heck of it, wish i could permantly change so i can saftly say "i don't have "blue" screens"
